Academic Requirements
International students are required to demonstrate proficiency in the Academic Field
Undergraduate: Admission to our undergraduate degree programs usually requires successful completion of a senior secondary school qualification similar to the Higher School Certificate (HSC), the highest educational award in New South Wales schools. Depending on your Country, you will need to check if your qualification is recognised for direct entry into the University of Newcastle.
Post-secondary study: Further education like diplomas and university study can also be assessed for admission.
International qualifications are assessed for comparability to Australian qualifications according to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
English Requirements
We accept several assessable qualifications, including the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The standard of English proficiency you need in these depends on your chosen program of study.
If you do not meet our English language requirements you can study at our Language Centre first.
AVERAGE TUITION BUDGET & OTHER COSTS
The Australian Government requires international students have a minimum of AUD $21,041 for 12 months to stay in Australia.
